Bike to Work Day is May 9

The of City of Sebastopol is partnering with the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and other organizations to sponsor Bike to Work Day. The annual event will consist on two energizer stations, which provide riders light refreshments and prices as a source of encouragement, one on the bike path at the north end of town and the other at the Joe Rodota Bike Trail at Petaluma Avenue.

“This is the first time the City has sponsored BTWD, but the Energizer Station has been going strong for many years, powered by what seems like a leaderless core group that plans it every year,” said Vice Mayor, Patrick Slayter. “We are sponsoring because the event aligns with many goals the City has towards reducing single occupant vehicle use, demonstrating bicycles are viable transportation and are fun.”
Interested participants can prepare for the annual event at the pre-Bike to Work Day Clinic which will be hosted on April 20 from 10am to 1pm at the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition offices--750 Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa.

Interested participants and employers can register and take a pledge by visiting http://bit.ly/BikeToWorkPledge.  Not a cyclist yourself, but want to be part of the fun? Register to volunteer at the event here.

There will also be an After Work Party at Crooked Goat Brewing on Morris at McKinley from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Visit https://www.bikesonoma.org/btwd/ for more information.
