Clean Air Day Tree Planting Oct. 2

Clean Air Day Tree Planting Oct. 2

The Sebastopol City Council is proclaiming October 2 as Clean Air Day in Sebastopol

Public Works will provide shovels and soil at both locations for attendees to use while getting their hands a little dirty and claim “hey, I helped plant that tree,”  bragging rights every time they drive by for years to come.

A presentation and planting of a Tupelo - Nyssa sylvatica ‘wildfire’ tree will take place at the Sebastopol Fire Station on Bodega Avenue between 10am and 11am. Several Valley Oaks will also be planted at the beginning of a grove, will take place on the natural hillside along Morris Street across from the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center from 10 am to 1pm.

Additionally, large Valley Oak and California Sycamore trees requiring heavy equipment will be planted at Ives Park and at the intersection of Willow and Jewel, which the public is welcome to come and watch.

The community is also invited to join members of the Sebastopol City Council in taking the Clean Air Pledge and learning more about actions that can help clean California’s air at cleanairday.org.
