PG&E: Not Shutting Off Power
Service Continuity – PG&E voluntarily implemented a moratorium on service disconnections for non-payment, effective immediately. This suspension will apply to both residential and commercial customers and will remain in effect until further notice. To further support customers who may be impacted by the pandemic, PG&E will offer its most flexible pay plans to customers who indicate either an impact or hardship as a result of COVID-19. PG&E will continue to monitor current events and identify opportunities to support our customers and communities.
Service Reliability – For all areas that are ordered to shelter in place PG&E is canceling all gas and electric planned service interruptions for the duration of the shelter in place order. Field activities that would not involve a planned outage would continue as scheduled.
For more information on what PG&E is doing, visit their
website.
Scam Alert: Unfortunately there are people that will take advantage of customers, particularly during vulnerable times. We want to make you aware of scams and what information PG&E will and will not request.
Please see the attached guide.
City Water Services Information
The City recognizes the hardship that the pandemic and Resulting Shelter in Place Orders, have created in our community. We want to reassure our residents that the water and sewer* systems are operating as usual. During this national emergency, the City of Sebastopol will temporarily suspend non-emergency turnoffs and late fees. Once the crisis has passed, the City will work with customers to set up bill payment plans.
Additionally, all residents/customers should know that the water the City provides remains safe. The State Water Resources Control Board has determined that there is no evidence that the COVID-19 virus survives the disinfection process for drinking water. Customers can continue to use and drink water from the tap as usual.
Since City offices are closed to the public, here are three ways that you can pay your water and sewer bill:
- Pay online here: https://ci.sebastopol.ca.us/billpay
- Mail payment (check only) City of Sebastopol, P.O. Box 1776, Sebastopol, CA 95473
- Drop payment (check only) through the mail slot at City Hall at 7120 Bodega Ave.
*Reminder: In order to keep the sewer system operating properly, it is very important that residents not flush wipes or paper towels.

Recology will not suspend trash service due to nonpayment. Recology understands that customers are starting to request delay of payments or payment plans due to the circumstances, and they are sensitive to what the community is going through. Recology will not stop service due to non-payment at this time. If a customer calls in that has been impacted by COVID-19, Recology can work with them to create a payment plan. CPUC Helping Consumers and Businesses Impacted by COVID-19
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has taken a range of actions to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on utility customers and small businesses. Some of those measures include reducing residential and business energy bills, suspending electric, natural gas, and water utility disconnections, suspending renewal requirements for key low-income programs, temporarily suspending wireless data caps and data coverage charges, and ensuring that critical wildfire safety preparation work continues. here for details on the measures the CPUC is taking. See the
California Public Utilities Commission website for more information.
